Promos, Advertising & Branded Content (cont.)

Meta - Dylan Sprouse & Barbara Palvin

When the former Disney actor and his model girlfriend needed a showrunner for their Instagram series, BREAKING GROUND, they called me. After 20 episodes and 100 million views we struck a development deal with Discovery for a primetime version of the series.

Rolling Stone/Dannon Yogurt - Anders Holm

Rolling Stone’s Creative Advertising team paired me with Anders Holm of Workaholics fame for a mockumentary designed to sell yogurt. The client was so pleased they extended the series.

Comedy Central/Dos Equis - Dos De Mayo

Comedy Central’s integrated marketing team wanted to give their co-branded advertising a new look and feel, so they brought me in to produce and direct, resulting in this successful spot.

Documentary - short form

Rolling Stone - The Warriors – Last Subway Ride Home

Patrick turned his passion for this cult film into a global viral hit. Easily one of Rolling Stone’s most popular videos, it put the cult film back in the cultural zeitgeist and reignited remake discussions with the Russo Brothers.

BET/NAACP - The Thurgood Marshall Award

Writing, producing and directing this multi-part documentary series, which profiled recipients of the prestigious Thurgood Marshall Award, was a rewarding accomplishment. The project was so well received that BET submitted it for awards of its own.

Rolling Stone/HBO - Shaping the Culture: 1973

When HBO needed a primer to introduce their audience to the period their new show VINYL takes place in, I pitched a documentary on the year 1973. With notes coming in from producers Mick Jagger and Martin Scorsese, this was a career highlight and a fever dream all in one. The popularity of the project led us to sell other “years” to other networks with period-based shows.

Podcasts & Misc

Sunshine Sachs/Illuminative - American Genocide

Podcast

I embeded on the Oglala Lakota Indian Reservation with the intention of creating an archive of interviews with the locals on the eve of the government’s excavation of a Catholic school believed to be hiding multiple dead bodies. But my lightbulb moment to turn the interviews into a podcast transformed the material into a multi-award-winning series that forced the school to change its name and apologize.

Heavy Metal Magazine - Wonderwerk

Podcast

To help HM Magazine increase its intellectual property generation, I co-created an anthology series featuring renowned genre writers like George Romero Jr. and Dan Fogler and Fall Out Boy’s Joe Trohman.

Heavy Metal Magazine - Sun Eater

Graphic Novel

I teamed with writer Dylan Sprouse to help develop and publish a graphic novel series that served as a metaphor for Dylan’s turbulent life as a child actor. The books were a hit and led to an animated series development deal with Crunchyroll.
